Get ready for a thrilling ride as we dive into the remarkable comeback story of Max Verstappen in the 2025 Formula 1 season! Former F1 driver Romain Grosjean has some bold words to share, and trust me, you won't want to miss this.
Grosjean, in an interview with beIN Sports, declared that Verstappen's resurgence was not just inspiring but also the most outstanding performance of the season. Despite not securing the championship, Verstappen's late-season surge left everyone in awe.
After a summer break that seemed to signal the end of his championship hopes, Verstappen roared back with a series of podium finishes and victories in the Italian, Azerbaijan, US, Las Vegas, and Qatar Grands Prix, plus the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
"Abu Dhabi 2025 was almost the season's least exciting race, but the buildup was incredible," Grosjean said. "Max Verstappen, hands down, was the standout driver this year. He didn't have a top-tier car, lost points, yet miraculously fought back in Abu Dhabi. He shouldn't have been in contention, yet he finished just two points behind Lando Norris. That's outstanding!"
Grosjean continued, "This season was definitely one of his best. Last year was strong, but the year before, with a dominant car, it was easier. His first world championship battle with Lewis Hamilton was tough. But this year, coming from behind and being so consistent and strong, it's been truly inspiring for many drivers."
During the post-race press conference in Abu Dhabi, Verstappen himself reflected on the season's ups and downs. "It's been a massive rollercoaster. The first half had its moments, but mostly it was tough. Some races were really challenging, but I'm proud we never gave up. That's a lesson: even when it seems you're out, never give up, keep working hard to understand your issues, and you never know what might happen."
So, what do you think? Was Verstappen's comeback the most outstanding drive of the season? Let us know in the comments! We'd love to hear your thoughts on this controversial topic.
