Grizzlies 116-110 Timberwolves (Dec 17, 2025) - A Thrilling Game Recap
In a thrilling NBA showdown on Wednesday, the Memphis Grizzlies emerged victorious over the Minnesota Timberwolves, 116-110. The Grizzlies' balanced scoring attack, led by Jaren Jackson Jr.'s 28 points and 12 rebounds, proved too strong for the Timberwolves. Despite the loss, Minnesota's Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo showcased their prowess, each scoring 21 and 19 points, respectively.
The Grizzlies' success was not solely reliant on their star players. Jock Landale contributed 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Jaylen Wells, Cedric Coward, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope each added double-digit points. Santi Aldama's 11 rebounds were instrumental in securing the win. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves's Rudy Gobert dominated with 16 points and 16 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to prevent the loss.
Both teams faced challenges due to key player absences. Anthony Edwards, Minnesota's top scorer, missed his third straight game with a right foot injury. Similarly, Ja Morant, the Grizzlies' star guard, was sidelined with a left ankle sprain sustained in their previous game. Adding to the Grizzlies' woes, Cam Spencer, who had a career-high 27 points in the win over the Clippers, missed the game for personal reasons.
The turning point came in the final moments. With the Grizzlies leading 106-103, Landale hit his fourth 3-pointer of the game, and after a missed shot by Naz Reid, Jaren Jackson Jr. added a crucial floater with 47 seconds left, securing the Grizzlies' victory.
The Grizzlies' momentum began in the third quarter when they rallied from a 76-67 deficit. A 14-2 run, fueled by three-pointers from Landale, Caldwell-Pope, and Jackson, as well as a follow shot, gave them an 81-76 lead. Despite Minnesota's efforts, including a three-point play by Reid, the Grizzlies maintained their lead.
Memphis forward Brandon Clarke made his return after a lengthy absence due to knee injuries, including arthroscopic surgery in September. He contributed six points and three rebounds in the crucial win.
Looking ahead, the Grizzlies will host the Washington Wizards on Saturday, while the Timberwolves will face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday.
